SHAH ALAM: A woman and her alleged lover pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here yesterday to a charge of injuring her policeman husband last month. Accounts administrator Kasturi Saminathan, 27, and Stevan Athimoloo, 22, were charged with beating Lance Corporal G. Vimal Raj with a piece of wood with the intention to cause serious injuries at a car park in Hulu Yam, Selayang, at 1am on Nov 11. Deputy public prosecutor Faridah Nurdinie Baharum prosecuted while counsel M. Manoharan represented Kasturi and Rajpal Singh appeared for Stevan.Judge Hasbi Hasan fixed bail at RM7,000 with one surety for each accused and set Jan 28 for mention.Both counsel told Hasbi that their clients were allegedly beaten by at least four policemen while being detained at the police station.They said Stevan suffered head and facial injuries while Kasturi suffered injuries on her hands and body.Hasbi then ordered Faridah to facilitate necessary aid to both accused if they wanted to make a police report.Last November, it was reported that Vimal Raj, a policeman based at the Rawang station, was allegedly beaten by his wife and her lover. The policeman was in a coma for a month before regaining consciousness.
